Andrell Education Ltd enters into partnership with MyLO
In 2006, Andrell Education Ltd entered into discussions with Atom Partners Ltd (MyLO) with a view to launching a partnership version of the MyLO School Communicator/Learning Platform. The added value that Andrell Education Ltd can provide through MyLO has been core to these discussions as our primary objective is to provide the best support possible to schools and pupils.
We are pleased to announce that the new version of MyLO, including supportive resources from Andrell Education, will be launched in March 2007. We are confident that this exciting online resource will become the standard for School Communicator/Learning Platforms and enhance the learning experience and potential of pupils. Ros Wilson's Big Writing resources, such as VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation), The Punctuation Pyramid and The Criterion Scale, will all be represented in the initial resource bank at no additional cost.
The ongoing development of MyLO, the resources that it delivers to schools and the exciting events that will be announced over coming months, will ensure that MyLO remains in the headlines for the foreseeable future. MyLO Announce New Education Specialist Partnership
MyLO are proud to announce their new partnership deal, with the ‘Highly Accredited’ Andrell Education Ltd. Working together, MyLO and Andrell will support development of Primary School student literacy and communication skills, in a safe and secure environment. Many new product developments are planned to support this delivery and we need your feedback and ideas. With this in mind, we will soon be launching our secure teacher’s forum, where you will able to make suggestions and discuss new approaches to teaching.

MyLO Meets the DfES e-Strategy Harnessing Technology:
The MyLO School Communcator/Learning Platform meets the DfES e-Strategy for making an on-line Learning Platform available to all UK school children, available in every school, by the end of the 2007-2008 academic year.

(www.dfes.gov.uk/publications/e-strategy), outlines the government's targets for ensuring that better use is made of ICT to improve learning. A key objective in this is ´a personalised learning space with the potential to support e-portfolios available to every school by 2007-08´. It is intended that the delivery of this objective will be supported through the implementation of learning platforms in schools.
MyLO Member schools are now enjoying the benefits of the MyLO Learning Platform and School Communication environment nearly 2 years prior to the DfES deadline.

MyLO Summer Break - Keeping Minds and Bodies active!!!
Did you know...
...children can loose up to 15% of their knowledge and capability over the summer break.
To help address this issue, MyLO, ROWA! and Derbyshire Health Promoting Schools have joined forces to create a series of Physical and Mental daily exercises and tips. These will appear within the on-line School Organiser of each child, from MyLO Member Schools.

MyLO Motivation Merits - Saving your school real money!!!
MyLO have introduced a set of MyLO self-print Motivation Merits Support Resources that will save your school real money. Delivered as MS Word documents, your school can now produce any number of Merit Medal Stickers, Merit Collector Cards, Merit Certificates and Promotion Posters.
With school spending around £3.00 per child per year in reward and recognition stickers, gifts and certificates, MyLO membership, at around £1.68 per child per year give schools a very real saving, when you consider all of the additional benefits and features of MyLO.
A simple MyLO Motivation Merits administration tool is available to the Secure School Administration Area, allowing your school to manage the award of merits, including the addition of the reason for the award.
Once awarded on-line, MyLO Motivation Merits Medals appear on the header of a students own secure website home page, visible to all visitors.

MyLO and ROWA! Launch their latest E-Bullying Awareness Lesson Plan
Working together with ROWA!, MyLO have launched their latest E-Bullying Awareness Lesson Plan for Y6/Y7.
Centred around a 'What is and What is not?' questionairre, children can either work alone or in small groups in this provocative lesson.
The questionairre is also developed in such a way, as to allow children to inform their teacher that they have been a victim of the types of E-Bullying included in the questionairre.

MyLO Launch the MyLO MOTIVATION MERITS Recognition Scheme
MyLO have introduced the MyLO Motivation Merits scheme, which will allow your school to recognise a students achievements within the PSHE Curriculum.

MyLO Launch a Series of PSHE Curriculum-based Lesson Plans and Activities
Working together with ROWA!, MyLO have developed a series of PSHE Curriculum lesson plans, resources and templates. All of these resources are for exclusive use of MyLO Member Schools.
The following Lesson Plans are now available;
- Lesson Plan: Personal Security
- Lesson Plan: Creating an On-line Profile
- Lesson Plan: Setting Goals and Recording Experiences
- Lesson Plan: Gathering and Sharing Information
(Creating and Sharing Photobooks and Projects)
In addition, we have also developed a MyLO PSHE Curriculum Mapping Teacher's Handbook, to assist your school with the delivery of MyLO in a curriculum context.

The GREAT MyLO Easter Egg Hunt
This year children at MyLO Member schools will be able to take place in an Easter Egg Hunt with
a difference...
...hidden within the MyLO website, we will be placing 12 Easter Eggs, each with a unique 3-digit number. Children will be asked to collect all 12 egg numbers and enter them in to a competition entry form within their own diary.
The first child in each school to find all 12 eggs and enter the numbers correctly within the entry form will win a Special MyLO Easter Egg.
Every child that finds all 12 Easter Eggs will also get a ‘I Cracked MyLO certificate!
The Competition will be launched on Tuesday 5th April, with all entries to be completed by Easter Sunday at 12 midday.

Racket and Rocket
MyLO launch their exclusive Health and Safety lesson plans, available for download within the Shared Resources Section.
Covering the subjects of Crossing the Road, Protective and Visible Clothing, as well as our Racket and Rocket, Danger Stranger lesson plans and mini projects for key stage 2. This lesson plan is developed to assist your school in meeting the 'Being Safe' element of the 5 Outcomes for children.

MyLO Going from Strength-to-strength in Derbyshire
"We have introduced MyLO to all of our junior children and had a fantastic response. Over half of our school already use it regularly and about half of them have logged in at least 3 times in the last week. The site is easy to use and offers a simple way for children to record and plan their lives."
As at 13.03.2006 our children have created 111 Photobooks and placed 284 diary entries and 193 organiser entries.

FREE Shared Resources
MyLO Launch a FREE Shared Resources section, including lesson plans to assist in your school meeting the 5 Outcomes. This section currently features curriculum approved lesson plans and projects from MyLO, ROWA! and Dr Mark.
The FREE Shared Resources section will also allow all member schools to upload lesson plans and projects, developed within their own school, to be downloaded and used by any ember schools in the UK. Schools using these resources can also add rating and comments against the resources they have utilised.

Organiser Repeat Entry Weekly Function
Organiser entries can now be set to repeat on any day of the week, by setting the repeat option at the base of the add organiser entry page. These repeat entries can also be set to not display within the school holidays set within the school's version of MyLO. You will find this function very handy when setting regular deadlines, such as 'Maths Homework' every Wednesday.

MyLO have added a simple Step-by-step set-up and administration guide for both teachers and Pupils, taking you through your School Administration Area. This is available as a PDF and can be downloaded from the School's Administration Login screen.

Enhanced School Registrations Information and Administration Control
We have also enhanced the School Registrations section, which now allows you to view all registrations within your school. Along with details of how many diary entries, organiser entries and Photobooks each child has made, you can also see how many times each child has logged in and whether they have set-up a Photobook Password, allowing family and friends to view their picture website. |
